The Placid Bay Hotel is an Adirondack Destination in Itself!

My family and I just got back from a wonderful vacation up in Lake Placid (the Adirondacks) and my lasting impression is... WOW! The leaves are changing and the mountains are bursting with brilliant colors, as they show us their beauty one last time for the year. It’s quite the stunning sight.

For our family vacation, I booked us a great hotel, right on the lake! It has so many wonderful features and amenities that I wanted to share this with you, because I feel like the hotel itself was a destination. We stayed at the Placid Bay Hotel and it’s the first smart hotel in Lake Placid. They have rooms of all sizes and even cottages to rent, too! And the price can’t be beat. For all that you get, you will be booking next year’s vacation before you leave!

We had the pleasure of staying in the Whiteface Suite and it was amazing! (Big shout-out to Placid Bay Hotel for hosting my family) This suite was huuuuuge, or as my daughter said, “it’s like a house!” She’s right, and it’s the perfect choice for a family or two couples traveling together. This suite has spectacular views of their amazing pool, the lake, Whiteface Mountain and all the beautiful surrounding trees.

The bedroom in this suite is very grand! There’s a beautiful, vaulted wooden-beamed ceiling and an extremely comfortable king-sized bed. ( We slept great!) This room also has a desk, lounge area, and huge Samsung TV! A really cool feature of this hotel is that all TVs on this property are hooked up with Hulu+ Live TV and Disney+! (The kids loved Disney+!) There is also a large full bathroom attached to the bedroom. Just look at this beautiful space!

If you want to make meals for your family while staying there, no worries, you will have everything you need! This suite has a full-sized kitchen with a refrigerator, oven, microwave, coffee maker, and a dining table with 4 chairs (extra chairs are in a closet). I found this feature to be extremely helpful, as I made food for us a few times and also heated up some leftovers from our dinner out.

The living room is spacious as well and includes a pull-out sofa that our kiddos slept on. I loved that the kids had their own room, so that we parents could stay up later and watch some tv in the bedroom without disturbing them.

The living room also has comfy lounge chairs, a writing desk, large TV (there are 2 in this suite!), beautiful fireplace, and even an Echo! My daughter had a blast asking Alexa a bunch of questions. Oh, who am I kidding? We allllllll did! Haha!

And guess what?! There’s still more! This suite had its own private patio with a dining set, grill, and flower garden. Such a pretty space and perfect for grilling.

A really wonderful bonus to this hotel is that all guests get to enjoy a beautiful pool, campfire with lots of Adirondack chairs, canoes, paddleboards, and kayaks! At no extra charge! You will also find all the necessary equipment including paddles and life jackets in a variety of sizes. We were so excited to take the kids out on the canoe and explore the lake. It was a lovely canoe ride, and the first one we had ever taken as a family. The kids loved it!

We saw a spectacular sunset on our last evening there. The property has quite the picturesque setting with the colorful changing trees as the backdrop. There was a beautiful, cotton-candy colored sky that evening that reflected upon the water making a view that you couldn’t help but wish you had every day. So I took lots of pictures! Haha.

And what better way to end our stay at this lovely hotel, but with a good ol’ fashioned s’more fest! We cuddled around the bonfire and cooked up some yummy treats while enjoying our last evening in Lake Placid. A delicious campfire snack to end this sweet stay.
