We should all be eating three meals a day - breakfast, lunch and dinner. This helps to keep our body consistently fueled and will help you to get through each day, morning to night, comfortably and healthily. But all too many of us settle for dull, bland or simply nutritionally devoid options that are easy to make or convenient to pick up on the go when it comes to lunch. Instead, why not try something new and interesting? You don’t have to stick to the same old options - just a little planning and effort can help see you eat delicious lunches that you actually enjoy. Here are some suggestions that should help you along the way!
Toasties
Sandwiches tend to be one of the most common lunch options. But there’s only so many days in a row you can have a sandwich without things getting a little boring. Instead, why not consider a toastie? If you’re at home or have access to a grill, this is an option that changes things up a little. When choosing toastie ingredients, you might want to consider fun foods that will melt and add to the flavor of the toastie as a whole. Cheese tends to be one of the most popular. It will melt and add a delicious taste and texture. If you’re following a vegan diet, there are plenty of melt-able vegan cheeses available now too! You could even try a toasted bagel if you’re looking for something a little different. Follow a good keto bagel recipe to get started.
Rice Bowls
Rice bowls are a delicious option that can pack a punch when it comes to nutrient content. Choose your rice - boiled is generally ideal for these bowls, as you can add the flavor through other ingredients without it clashing with a flavored rice. Next, choose a range of vegetables to add in. Chopped avocado, beetroot, kale, broccoli, cauliflower, roasted carrots, the list goes on. You might want to try adding something like chickpeas or a variety of different beans for protein too. Finish the entire bowl off with some sauce, to prevent it from being too dry. The best sauce will depend on what you’ve put in already - choose something complementary.
Soups
Soups are delicious and filling, but leave room for an early dinner too. There are countless flavors out there, so whether you choose a tinned soup or to make your own, chances are, you could have a different soup most days of the week without getting bored. Pair with fresh, crusty bread for an extra energy boost.
Baked Potatoes
Baked potatoes will fill you with carbohydrates to get you through the day - plus, you can choose from plenty of different toppings, making it something that you’ll really look forward to. From plain butter to cheese and beans, chili, tuna mayo and various other classics, there’s plenty of choice. Just make sure to be prepared when opting for this lunch, you’ll need to leave the potato baking in the oven for a while before it’s crisp and cooked through well.
Of course, you could have anything you like for lunch. But the options above generally serve as some good choices for a day to day basis!

ReplyDeleteBaked potatoes! So nice in the cooler weather, and so tasty! I love to top mine with plain lo-fat yogurt instead of sour cream, to add a nice healthy punch of protein.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was raising kids, there wasn’t all of these cool lunches to offer them. Believe me, trying to be creative and still work full time and more- was not and easy feat!! I was a big Tupperware user! I would make soup or put Jello, fruit, applesauce, pudding- stuff like that to put in these tight, keep me food fresh containers. The convenient small packages were not around. Of course, the favorite PB&J sandwiches 🥪 Some times I gave them lunch money if they liked what the cafeteria was having. My daughters put in granola or kids protein bars and more for the kids nowadays. This is great! Thank you for sharing 😍
