This is a Guest Post. I only share information with my readers that I find fun, informative, and helpful. Enjoy!
With changes in the healthcare industry, doctors are now pressured more than ever to consistently do more with less. Therefore, it is important to have good time management skills that can help you become more productive in your daily projects, allowing you to work with efficiency without burning yourself out, especially in the days of the pandemic!
However, it takes a lot of work and planning to make your practice run like a well-oiled machine. In absence of a plan, your today’s to-do list will spill over to the next day and your days will look choc-a-block with no time left for yourself. This is one of the quickest ways to feel burnout and demotivated.
To help you get more done and make your business more productive, we will share some helpful life hacks that will get your life back on track.
Sort your daily schedule
As a doctor, life never goes as planned. You may have scheduled all your tasks down to the last letter and then a bunch of stuff comes up that you would have to finish in the after-hours.
One of the biggest ways any busy physician wastes time is by trying to do too many things at the same time. Instead, schedule your day ahead of time and break longer and more complex tasks into smaller actionable steps. Don't forget to add some free time into your schedule to make time for odds and ends that come up during the day.
Delegate Whenever Possible
When you are running a healthcare business, there is a lot at stake. Any mistake can become a matter of life and death for the people concerned. Therefore, it is important to delegate the non-core duties of your business to a reliable service provider who can handle them just as competently as you.
For instance, many healthcare providers have now started outsourcing their answering and administrative services to medical call centers. These outsource partners are experts in providing the services as per your requirement and at a price that is affordable for your business.
For those who work in the office, a great resource to use is ShiftCare. This is the best NDIS software to keep track of your workers, their shifts, title, clients and much more. This will definitely streamline your business with setting up and managing shifts as well as book-keeping.
You can easily find HIPAA Compliant Answering Services Pricing by checking online. Be sure to discuss the pricing as well as service models in person before hiring. You must also perform a thorough background check to ensure they are indeed experienced and HIPAA compliant as they claim to be.
Delegating these tasks will allow you to free up crucial hours and resources at your clinic or hospital so that you can provide better care to the walk-in patients than the ones on the phone. Besides, no need to spend hours wasting in administrative tasks that are no value addition to your business anyway!
Make time for long-term goals
As a doctor, it is possible that you get caught up in the day’s rhythm and mundane tasks so much that you often lose track of your vision. This is why time management experts recommend that you must first finish high-priority urgent tasks that have a direct impact on your business. At the same time, you must also schedule the tasks in your routine that you should do in order to reach one step closer to your long-term goals. It is these tasks that end up sitting on our list forever and we never get around to them because we have so much in our day as it is. Additionally, when the must-do and should-do tasks are out of the way, you must also find time to do something that you want to do every day. This could be anything from reading a book to writing.
These time-management style tasks allow you to give time to everything in your life that is important and helps you feel content at the end of the day. Setting such goals alone can help busy physicians become more productive in their work.
Patient care should be your top priority
Setting clear goals is the best way to manage time in your personal as well as professional life. It also helps govern how much you want to work and what exactly you love to do. This is the key to stay organized and control the flow of your day.
However, it is crucially important to never lose sight of your patients when you are defining your goals. It should be of primary importance and should not be sacrificed for any other goals. Even if you are planning your day or use of technology, remember that you can never go wrong if you stay committed to your patients’ best interest in your mind.
If you are a doctor who is struggling to manage your time, these life hacks will help you reach that utopian work-life balance with ease.

ReplyDeleteI can't imagine being in the health field these days. It must be rough. Thanks for posting!
ReplyDeleteI had a very hard time trusting doctors again! I had a two year nightmare of going to them and doing all of their tests just to find out that my pain wasn’t crazy! I had a tumor which by now intertwined with the vertebrae on my spine! I don’t even want to get into my nightmare! I had to learn all over again that the medical field was here to help us and take care of us. Now with the pandemic, I have the utmost respect for these brave heroes!! They have even sacrificed time with their own families! I pray for all the medical personnel, patients, and our country! God Bless 🙏🏼
